Are commercial airlines expected to operate at Cecil Airport?

No. Commercial passenger airlines will not operate at Cecil Airport (VQQ). Commercial passenger flights will continue to be centered at Jacksonville International Airport (JAX), which is designed to handle commercial passenger service.

 
How will Cecil Airport complement Jacksonville's existing system of airports?

Cecil Airport (VQQ) is expected to add tremendous capacity for increased aviation activity in the aviation maintenance, repair, overhaul, and air cargo areas. Cecil Airport is a full-service, instrumented General Aviation Reliever Airport. The JAA system of airports includes: Jacksonville International Airport (JAX), which serves commercial passenger, air cargo, corporate aviation and the Florida Air National Guard; Cecil Airport (VQQ), which serves general aviation and light corporate aviation; and Herlong Airport (HEG), which services sport/recreational aviation and light corporate aviation.

Cecil Airport (VQQ) Aviation Assets include 479 buildings and structures, 13 hangars with 950,000 square feet of floor space, 150,000 square feet of office space, 537,000 square yards of apron space, and 4 runways with the longest 12,500 x 200 feet.

 
Who can use Cecil  Airport?

It is a public use airport. General Aviation, corporate, and military all can use the airport.

 
What is JAA's vision for Cecil Airport?

JAA's vision is to capitalize on Cecil Airport's transportation network, including air, rail, surface and proximity to port facilities, and to plan and develop a major, diversified, multi-modal manufacturing, warehousing, distribution and transportation center at Cecil Airport (VQQ).

 
Is JAA solely responsible for the development of Cecil Airport?

No. The JAA partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Jacksonville Economic Development Commission is to provide for the operation, maintenance, management and economic development of Cecil Airport (VQQ). This partnership is an essential element in the success of the project.
