JAXEX Economic Impact

JAXEX provides an annual economic impact of approximately $171,604,500 and about 1,191 direct and indirect aviation-related jobs in the Northeast Florida region.

In the Community…

As a good neighbor, JAXEX supports a variety of activities and community groups including:

Craig Airport Citizens Advisory Committee (CACAC)

In 1999, the Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA) established a Citizens Advisory Committee. The purpose of the committee is to provide an open and cooperative environment for neighborhood residents, community officials, and business groups to discuss issues relating to the long-range planning and development of JAXEX. Additionally, the committee provides a forum for staff to exchange information regarding airport operations, noise abatement, and outreach. The committee meetings are held quarterly at JAXEX. For more information, contact Tiffany Gillem at (904) 641-7666 or by e-mail at tiffany.gillem@flyjaxex.com.

JAXEX Observation Area

At the observation area located next to the Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA) administrative offices, members of the community are welcome to watch planes take off and touch down. Whether relaxing in a rocking chair or enjoying a picnic lunch, visitors can view the airport activity while listening to transmissions from the control tower.

School Tours

The JAXEX staff is happy to take students on tours of the airport facilities. To arrange an airport tour, contact the airport manager at 904-641-7666.

Summer Camps

The Jacksonville Aviation Authority and many of the airport tenants hold summer camps for children at the airport. To learn about upcoming summer camps, please visit www.flyjaxex.com.

Civil Air Patrol

The Jacksonville branch of the Civil Air Patrol is located at JAXEX. To learn more about the Civil Air Patrol, please visit www.gocivilairpatrol.com.

Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Young Eagles

The Young Eagles Program was created by the EAA to pass their love of flying onto the next generation. Local members of the EAA give interested young people the opportunity fly in a general aviation aircraft completely free of charge.
